Dani Filth

Dani Filth

Dani Filth (born Daniel Lloyd Davey on July 25th, 1973 in Hertford, England) is the lyricist, vocalist, artistic director and founding member of the British extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. Filth is the only remaining member of the band's original line-up, and has been accused by former members of regarding it almost as his own solo project ("Dani and the Filths", according to ex-keyboard player Les "Lecter" Smith).

Quotes

* "I fucking hate arrogance. No, correct that... I fucking hate people. Vast mindless herds of people, usually around Christmas time or rush hour. And TV stereotyping. Urrrgh! Normality, waiting for anything (patience is not one of my virtues), litter, concrete urbanisation, lack of vision, religious strangleholds, bigotry, sponge cake... hate them all."

* "You tend to get rather bored with people or bands not making an effort to look less than ordinary, so we just try and be a little flamboyant, it's just the way we are. We're into this kinda thing."

* (When asked why he has a skeleton in his kitchen) "Well, it's a new kitchen.. so we thought it'd be ironic really, to have a skeleton in there."

* (When asked how he trains his voice) "Continual masturbation. I'm masturbating now. This arm is polystyrene."

* (When asked about his ties to Australia) "Yeah i know a few people, They have been a great help with my music, Elizabeth(Bundaberg QLD) always tells me how great I am and that I change the lives of others. She is the first person to actually be able to put up with me really. Why do I suddnly feel sorry for her."

* (When asked about what he's going to teach Luna about religion) "I'll let her make up her own mind. I'm not going to force her into anything. I'm not going to force her into anything at all."

* (Concerning Luna) "She doesn't use the 'F' word though. Just like her daddy."

* (When asked what he's going to expose Luna to) "This is the irony of it. She loves Winnie the Pooh. And she loves The Simpsons. And she loves Disney. And Stuart Little. And stuff like that. And she'll dance to it, and that's what you expect from kids. But then at the same time, she'll be dancing around the kitchen to the new Nile album. At the moment she is too young to understand the difference. And that innocence is worth protecting."
